This application was designed by a pilot, with your safety in mind, to assist you in evaluating the potential safety/risk for your flight. This app will assist in making the go or no go decision a simple one. This is accomplished by an easy selection of 1 though 4 in each of the following categories: Pilot, Aircraft, Environment, Duration and Urgency. The result will give you your total flight risk number. This number will help determine the flight safety potential. The calculations are based on the FAA s acronym and formula PAEDU (Pilot, Aircraft, Environment, Duration and Urgency) and the AOPA s (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) Air Safety Foundation Flight Risk Evaluator along with the FAA s IM SAFE Checklist. I recommend that you take the AOPA s Air Safety Foundation s Flight Risk Evaluator course for more information. Another excellent source of information is the FAA Safety Team s IM SAFE checklist and documentation.
